Sunshine Hall seems an unusual name for a stately mansion ? until you step inside. The elegant architecture, quaint rooms and charming decor of this home are like. A ray of sunshine will Los Angeles' historic Windsor Square.
The 9,000?square?foot Classical Revival home designed in 1910 by Theodore Eisen is the 10th Design House fund?raising project of the Assistance League of Southern California, and the welcome mat is out through Nov. 4.
Twenty local designers have worked six months on the house that boasts nine bathrooms, as well as a panoramic tribute to the firefighters of New York City in the attic playroom. The result is a cheery color scheme of red, pink and garden green that is youthful in spirit?yet traditional in application.
In the grand foyer, visitors are greeted with cloud like displays of silk plaid draperies with swags and jabots on the windows, each playfully trimmed with fringe and pompons to match the tufted love seat, designed by Carolyn E. Oliver-Broder.
